I wish to use a custom diolog box to solicit parameters for a query. I created the diolog box, then I created the query. Under the criteria for "Technician" field I put:

[Forms]![frmReportParameters]![cboEmployeeName]

However, when I run the query, my diolog box does not open but rather an Access Parameter value box with the [Forms]![frmReportParameters]![cboEmployeeName] line?

What am I missing?

Also, my diolog box also has two date controls on it, beginning date and end date. I wish to solicite all records between them. I used the criteria:

Between [Forms]![frmReportParameters]![BeginningDate] And [EndDate] Could someone confirm whether this is the correct format?

Thanks in advance,

Jeannie

frmReportParameters must be open before the query is launched.
A common way is to have a button for parameters validation and query execution.

And now the syntax:
Between [Forms]![frmReportParameters]![BeginningDate] And [Forms]![frmReportParameters]![EndDate]

Hope This Helps, PH.

the form frmReportParameters must be open when the query runs. Typically we have a form with the text boxes that feed the query/report, and a button on that form that you push to run/open the query/report. The beginning code in the button's OnClick event can also be used to make sure that the user filled in the dates/paramters.

Yes, thanks. I attempted to test by leaving the query open in design view, opening the form and filling in the fields. However, Access will not allow me to go back to the query to click the exclamation button to test?

Seems your form is modal.
