Cursors when selecting from remote servers

I want to get data from a remote server in a cursor ...
but this ...

declare cr cursor local static read_only for
select * from remote_Server.database.dbo.clients

open cr <-- seems to hang here ...

... does not work. What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried running the select statement (select * from remote_Server.database.dbo.clients) in Query Analyzer? If so, does it run properly or produce an error condition? Terry
