Curser Disappears in MSWord 2000

I have MS millenium PIII 866 CPU and Office 2000.
At various times (not specific to time on machine or file) but i will be working on a word document and just like that my cursor will disappear. To solve the problem i have tried to close word & restart word but that does not work. In all the other applications the cursor is visable. The only way to get the cursor to work in word is to shut down my entire computer & start all over. I have tried deleting normal.dot and starting with a new one but that did not work either.
any other imput would be appreciated.

I am not sure, but I believe there is a feature called Mouse Vanish. If you do a search, I am sure you will find lots of discussion on that.
