Hi,

I need get the current Keyboard Layout in the Windows Vista registry.

I know that the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload subkey registry have the list of the loaded keyboads layout, and the first occurrence is the default. But I need the current keyboard layout.

What the Windows registry can I get this information?

Thanks,

Re your post at thread779-1449386

I only asked about the Reg Key in case you wanted to check it out as a possibility. That article about USB Keyboards mentions some other Registry locations to check out.

It could help if you told us a few more details about what your problem is or what you are trying to achieve.

Anyway welcome to the Vista Forum.

Maybe there is no Registry Entry and things are grabbed from .dll files in the System32 Folder?

KBDFR.DLL = French Keyboard Layout
KBDGR.DLL = German Keyboard Layout, and so on with other nationalities

If you really want to dive in and get dirty you could take a snapshot of your registry before making the change and another one afterward and see if you can pick up any changes. This small freeware program may help you achieve this.

Thank you so much linney,

Replying your previous question, I need to know the current keyboard layout because I'm developping a system to run in more than one country. Then, the system need recognize the current keyboard layout for choose the corresponding language.

I will try your suggestion and then inform the conclusions in this forum.
