Here's the setup. We have a remote PC that we access via Carbon Copy over a WAN. There is a process on that PC that appears to be froze. Carbon Copy won't allow me to send the three finger salute so I can end task on the offending process. I can still type commands in run box, just can't give the salute. Does anyone know how to accomplish this by executing a command? ie.. Start>Run>?????.exe

Thanks.

Since you can't issue the "salute", the following may also not work, but its worth a try.

Ctrl + Esc -- to bring up the Start Bar
Alt + F4 -- to issue the Shut Down

Good Luck,

I can get to the start bar with no problems. I'm just trying to avoid a shutdown/restart. The PC rarely reboots when I issue a remote restart, it hangs completely. I end up having to get someone on location to reboot the machine via power switch.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this will work but try pressing cntrl+alt+backspace to pull up the task manager.

No luck with ctrl+alt+backspace either. I may have to get someone to reboot it. Just thought I'd try the boards first. Never know until you ask.

Thanks.

Over at the following web page
there are a lot of Free utilities.

A number of them will perform Task Management operations.

Look over the items listed under System (or anywhere else that looks promising).

Perhaps you can find a utility which you can run concurrently with your problematic application. If you can do so, then you should be able to toggle apps (Alt+Tab) over to the task manager and close the problem.

Good Luck,
