We are considering upgrading to CS4 from CS3, and make particular use of InDesign. Does anyone know of any incompatibly issues between the two versions?
There might be small differences in the way the text flows, because the text engine would be updated. So you should make sure you don't get any overflow boxes etc.
The other thing is that when you first install CS4 it starts with a Basic Workspace.
As soon as you install CS4 you should change the Workspace to Advanced, do this with no documents open. Or you'll be missing vital menu items and panels.
Other than that - CS3 docs should open fine in CS4.
I've heard of people having some problems. But they seem to overcome this by exporting the CS3 file as a .inx and then opening it in CS4.
If you did this from CS4 to CS3, things that are new to CS4 won't translate to CS3, as CS3 does not have that feature, like Cross References, or Conditional Text for example.
