I would like to buy a couple of blank Compact Flash card so that I have a spare backup CF and a Spare for loading the latest Deplist for Patching. We are using the CP PIV processors.

I believe Nortel recommended SanDisk but I did not know that there seems to be several versions. Any help with which card to order would be a big help with getting the right one the first time.
I did a search and found one old Thread (789-1503926) with one response that stated not to use Kingston? I have bought a Kingston media reader for placing Deplist onto the CF card and reading what is on the cards; any one know of issues with this or was the warning just about using Kingston CF media cards?

I think the golden rule here is for techs to carry a bundle of CF / PCMCIA cards. For your question, I would recommend 32 meg minimum for backups, but use a maximum of 512 megs for backups and if you want to have the software installed on it.

For the older Option 11c systems, have between 40 and 128 megs only.
I tend to use a variety of manufacturers for the cards. Sandisk has always been a proven product even when it's been in my pocket or loose in my laptop bag for the past 5 years.

All the best

REGION: APAC

PRIORITY: Information
TYPE: Alert
Background:
The Compact Flash (CF) used with CS 1000 are specifically designed for high reliability, data integrity and long life.
To ensure that only approved CF is used with CS 1000 systems there is a PCN control of changes process in place,
meaning Avaya is notified of any manufacturer changes so that evaluation and testing can be conducted before release.
The CF used with CS 1000 systems have specific data retention and access characteristics, wear leveling, ECC, and
have been matched to the CS 1000 applications.
Other than the size and shape they bear little resemblance to the consumer grade (even "professional series") camera
cards.
The internal CF card used on the CPPM and CPP4 is the call server hard drive Fixed Media Device (FMD) and critical to
the reliability of the CS 1000 solution. The other CF cards used with the CPPM are for software delivery, Removable
Media Device (RMD), and local database backup. These are all provided as part of the media kit along with the security
dongle.
Analysis:
Labeling
The original CF that ships with CPPM and CPPIV cards may have different manufacturer labeling than the replacement
CF that is merchandise orderable from Avaya..The factory installed CF goes through PCN controlled change
management like the blank replacement CF and is valid and approved. Any and all valid programmed devices will have a
label applied that defines the programmed PEC (NTMNxxxx) but due to space limitations we do not always print an Avaya
or Nortel logo on the label.
Valid and acceptable CF can be easily identified because it will have one or more of the following labels:
1) NTMNxxxx PEC code
2) Avaya logo / branding
3) Nortel logo / branding
If a CF on a CPPM or CPPIV does not have either NTMNXXXX or Nortel or Avaya labeling it is suspect and should be
brought to the immediate attention of Avaya support by raising a ticket.

Roc221 Thanks for your time & the info.

I did a search of my entire Nortel NTP 6.0 library and did not get one hit on any part number for blank CF cards.

I’m sure that after April 1st Avaya will change this also.
So I will try and get the cards ordered today while they are still supported.
