ok, I'm stumped....

CS1000E system running CPMGS card for Co-Res SS/CS/EM

System went down, hard drive failure, and replaced the hard drive.
Loaded Linux OS
Loaded Patches
Loaded SS/CS/EM
appstart restart
Loaded final SP for Linux
All appropriate reboots completed.

When I try to register with the System Manager/UCM I get all the way through and get:

System Error
A system error has occurred. The most common reason is that another user has deleted the selected object.
Refer to the log for detailed information.

Click Back to return to the previous page, then refresh it to ensure that you are viewing the most current information.

I have looked at the logs and can't find anything. I thoght maybe a DNS issue, so I entered a host entry for the UCM even though they do DNS resolution.

So I rebuilt the system thinking something glithced out, but nothing. I then removed all exisitng information from UCM to make sure there was no conflict, but no go. Then I even rebuilt and then changed the IP address and host names so maybe, just maybe the UCM would see as a new system.

Two way communication is working because, if I put in a bad password for the admin user, it comes back and stated that password is incorrect. Has anyone seen this before....

Did you do the security configuration after loading the Linux OS? You did not mention it in your post, but that would need to be done.

both.

I have tried just after the Linux OS/Initial patch load and that didn't work, so I loaded the Apps and SP and that didn't work either.

I think I may try to make this UCM standalone to see if it works. right now it is a memeber server that registers somewhere else.

also check the time on both servers, make sure they are EXACTLY the same (the closer the better)

Possible cause - CPMG card was not seated in the card slot all the way. We were working remote with hands onsite helping out a customer with a non-covered site. Affter Linux Base was installed again tried to Register with UCM and guess what......it worked.

Loaded Patches,Apps but now waiting to finish the SP install. Did find one thing interesting. Restoring a Customer Database would not work. The continue button would never come up. Only with default DB. So I am going to try and establish an EM connection to a default DB and restore the old database.

I will let you know how it ends....

If you have the compressed database backed up from a tftp server, you must uncompress the backup and basically make it look like the backup from the RMD in order to restore it.

I have done this and restored them to a system that has been rebuilt several times without trouble.
