Hi all, I am developing a vb.net application but I'm not sure what report writing tool to use. I have neither used crystal nor active reports.
Regardless of price and considering such general factors like learning curve, development speed, portability, etc... does using one over the other have its advantages or drawbacks?

I've never used Active Reports. Use Crystal Reports all the time though. Since a version of Crystal Reports comes with Visual Studio, you might as well give it a try and see if you like it. Its got almost everything the full version does.

As far as the learning curve, I don't think its hard at all. If you've made reports in Access, this isn't really much harder.

is crystal reports on the standard version of visual basic .Net, even if I did not buy the whole visual studio suite?
