I need some translator program to translate the reports. The only one I found that makes the job easy is this application at It was released in January 2004. So it is new but I downloaded the trial version and played around with. Found one bug and report it.

Well, it is easy but it does not translate the word. You still have to find someone to translate it. It has a column that will replace the orginal word with the translated word for you in the report.

I am no way in afflicited with them or anything, just simply surfing the Net to find something and this is what I came across. Since it is new there is no reviews or anything that gives them a thumbs up. But it shows some promising to make your job easier.

Just curious if anyone else tried it.

Can you provide more detail about your situation? How many reports? How much unique (different) text "blocks" need to be translated? Where is the text now (text objects?database fields?formulas?).

Depending on your situation, a cheaper solution may be to create a database table (and/or an ini file) that provides the translations and use formulas to return the appropriate text based on a parameter or an ini file setting.

There are currently 67 reports and it will grow. All the fields are from SQL stored procedure returning a recordset. I just add the recordset to the report. That is not the important part. The data will be what the clients enter in their localization.

What the program does is allow you to replace the text fields on the report. That raises an issue. Some of the reports have columns heading two high, stacked on top. And the program does not resize the fields so that is left up to us. It still doesn't matter as we will have to save them separately. What I mean about two stacks high is like this.

I am interested in knowing your idea on table or ini setting.

BTW, I am currently using CR7 but we just ordered CR10. I don't know what version 10 will provide.

A few of the reports have text based on forumulas and parameters but that is not our big concern.

Invoice Sold Total
Date Date Amount

The rows of text in some reports are packed tight. It is fine for English but once I translate it then part of the word does not appear as the size of the text field did not resize.

In that case, consider adding to the translation table (or ini file) not only the translated text for each language, but also the font size. Formulas in your Crystal report would then return the appropriate translation and font size expression would resize longer text to smaller fonts...
