The website is more promo and fluff in my opinion. Its hard to tell whether there are really enough new features in Crystal Reports V 10 to make an upgrade worth it. We are NOT using the enterprise version and will not be.

Can somebody highlight what they key new features are for someone developing reports and if the upgrade is warranted.

Thanks in advice,

Jay

If you are already using CR9, then the upgrade isn't a big step up. The major improvements include Business Views and Repository objects - and both of these require Crystal Enterprise for authentication and access.

It also seems to have fixed those annoying DB bugs that CR9 had with some databases.

If you are using an older version then those CR9 improvements are worth the upgrade (longer strings (64k) in formulas and calculations, SQL commands, Crosstab formatting, some new charts, etc.).

The breadth of scope that this encompasses, and the different editions of Crystal make this question very difficult to field.

Rather than stating what you WON'T be using the product for, try stating what you will.

CR 9 introduced a lot of new functionality, CR 10 adds to this a bit, but CR 9 was the really big leap.

Here's the edition comparison, which isn't too fluffy:

Note that afaik, CR 10 forces you to use CE if you wish to use the repository...

Bruce, what were the database issues you've experienced with CR 9?
