Crystal Reports Installation

Well, I finally got a VB 6 application using Crystal Reports 8.5 installed on a Windows 2000 machine. I promise to write an article about it as soon as I get all the items in place.

However, I have another issue to conquer. I am creating invoices and they appear to be created on the screen. I then want to export them to a pdf file by clicking on the envelope icon.

This works just fine on my development machine but not on the test machine. Some of the error messages told me to create a mail client, I did that. I down loaded a current version of Acrobat reader because of another message.

Having done those 2 things I thought I would be home free. But then I got an error message saying an error log was being created.

Is there some programming that I have to include with the code to guarantee that these reports can be saved? If so what is it?

Hi,

I think you need to distirbute a crystal dll that lets your users export to pdf.

I have included all the files in \WINNT\Crystal subdirectory which includes one that named u2fpdf.dll. Is that the one you are referring to? If so how do I make the application use it?

Check for the recent Service Pack 1 for Crystal 8.5 and download it, especially if you plan to print on multiple printers in different locations. You can find it on 'Help' (on the web) "Free Stuff.' Bookmark the site, as it is where future updates will be posted, also! The SP1 download corrected some major printing problems here.

I tried that. I got a new sscsdk80.dll with the service pack. According to the instructions, any previous versions had to be removed from the computer. The reports needed to be refreshed.

All that did not help me either. I can drill down on the reports. (I did not test that feature before, though.)

Any more suggestions?

Carolyn
