When Crystal 9.0 came out I believe that each time I distributed a program with an integrated report the user had to register crystal on it. This is why I stuck with 8.5. Has this changed to be able to view and export crystal 9 reports via VB without having a copy of crystal on the computer?

Crystal Reports uses many .dll and some .ocx files. Each of these files that it uses must be registered on the target machine. The target machine however does not need the Cyrstal Reports program installed, it needs the appropriate .dll and/or.ocx files installed and registered so that CR can use them.

You need to determine which files your crystal reports needs and distribute them with your setup package. The appropriate files will then exist on the target machine.

If the CR program is already installed on the target it makes it easy because all the files are already there.

Hope this helps.

But the merge module provided was looking for a registration code.

Can you be more specific? What is the exact message that you ae getting? What registration code, to register CR with Seagate?

Thanks and Good Luck!

It says that license.msm is a required module with CR9. Included in that is a keycode and registration wizard. Because of this I have not upgraded to CR 9.0 as of yet. Are you saying there is a way around this?

No I am not saying that. It sounds like CR 9 components that you are distributing are looking for a licence file based on a full installation. I don't know if there is a work around for this. You will have to look at the Seagate site knowledge base to see how to resolve this.

You can also try posting in CR forum149.

Just to let you know, Crystal 9 will not support windows 95 and lower.
