Does anyone know if Crystal Reports 8.5 will connect with the new ACT 2005 (ACT7)? If not, what Crystal Reports vesion will work with ACT2005?

Thanx.

PS: The new ACT2005 uses MSSQL.

I am very sure that Crystal can connect to ACT, regardless of version. It most certainly can connect to a SQL databasae. So unless ACT id something to make the tables and fields unavailable -- and I am not sure you can do this in SQL -- then you should not have a problem.

Question though: Can you not try it? The answer won't take long to prove one way or another if you just try it.

Yes, I can try it.

We just got new computer systems in running XP Pro. and bought the new ACT, which is now running on Microsoft's .NET and using MSSQL. (Where as the older ACT's use dBase files.) So -- before going through the trouble of installing Crystal Reports 8.5 -- I thought I would check and see if anyone had experience as to wheather it would work with the new ACT7.

The ACT! drivers worked well with CR8 and 8.5 but had a few problems with CR9. That seems to be all fixed with CR10.

We use CR with Act 2000 and thats been fine. Act 2005 uses a locked down SQL server so I suspect they have moved the product away from CR this time.

Thanx for the input. I finally spoke with an ACT tech-support engineer who said I would need at least Crystal Reports 10 to work with ACT2005.
