Now that I have successfully passed the parameters within the crystal report I guess my REAL concern is whether the Visual FoxPro 7.0 View processes based on the parameters FIRST or does the View itself execute its own query and then Crystal parameter selects based on the resultant view fields? Sorry to be quibbling on this but we are trying to keep our system in better shape than the last one. And since these tables will be growing huge over time with historical and current data I want to have the view do the least work as possible. If I should be posting this somewhere else please let me know.
Thanks, Cindy

Check the Show SQL Query in Crystal, it should show what it's passing in there.

My assumption being that if it passes, Fox honors it, other databases do, so I'd think that Fox would for a View too.

I checked the Show Sql area and my record selections do NOT show there, so I assume that in fact Crystal is running the select after the view has been executed?

There are a number of tricks to getting the record selection items to get passed to the SQL. Synapsevampire have you written a FAQ yet or do you just cut and past the answer every time :)

Search this forum for posts from synapsevampire in the last couplet weeks. I am sure you will find at least one that covers this problem.

Okay, I got a more definitive answer to my question from the Visual FoxPro people who use Crystal. It turns out that one can NOT pass the Crystal parameters to the parametized VFP View FIRST. Maybe this was obvious to others who looked at the post. So it is more a programming issue for my VFP co-workers to deal with before I get deal with it in Crystal.
