Currently: Macola 7.6.300B, SQL2000, Crystal 8.5 Developer Edition

I want to upgrade to SP C, but will I still be able to modify Macola's integrated Crystal reports with my Crystal 8.5? I heard that SP C now supports Crystal 10. I don't want to upgrade if I can't modify Macola's reports. Thanks.

You have a choice of installing with crystal 8.5 reports or crystal 10 reports. You can always update to crystal 10 later.

In fact you can update to Crystal XI now -- I have several clients using this already -- and there is almost never an issue. You can modify the ICRs as long as you save as to some other report name, and then run it in Crystal XI rather than in Macola.

Depending upon the ICR report template, you may have to manually rebuild the record selection formulas, and in some cases Macola is filtering the record set and passing it to the ICR without a record selection formua on the crystal side.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I have modified the AR statements and PO form ICR. Would I be able to still run these 2 through Macola? Also what viewer would I use for XI? Thanks again

If you have modified the existing report in 8.5 and not renamed it, you can run it in Macola. However, if Exact ever decides to modify the report, your report modifications will be lost during an update. This is why I do not advocate changing the ICRs unless you rename them and run them outside of Macola.

If you rename your modified reports and run them outside of Macola it does not matter what version of crystal you use or what version of crystal your Macola install uses.

Crystal XI has its own viewer, if that answers your question.

As a note, you can rename your modified ICR's and still run them in Macola. When you run an ICR, you would go to the Options tab and then browse and find your modified report. You can then save it as the new default so it will remember it for your user name.
