crontab -e 1

This is what I get when using crontab -e :
root:/etc/default> crontab -e
477
[blank line for cursor]

Why? This is Solaris 9 and it occurs with either /bin/ksh or /sbin/sh. Have tried using TERM equal to ansi, vt100, and wyse75.

as an AIX man you are not familiar wirh old ed Editor? :-D
