I recently purchased a new computer for my office which will eventually house our website. Since I am only a part time employee I will not be sitting in front of this computer all the time and other users will have to access it to make changes to certain programs we are running. I have created two ADMIN accounts. I have been working with one and installed all the necessary programs on it that I, and the other user requires. The question is is that I can see all of the new icons I have created but the other user has no desktop icons on their screen. I was just wondering how I could change that user's desktop to include all of the shortcuts that I want them to have. Any ideas?

My second questions is about the updating of Win XP. I have the computer set up and downloading new updates constantly but I wanted to make sure that the new changes were affecting the entire computer and not just my ADMIN login.

Thanks in advance.

this is an easy one:

The problem is that the icons that appear on your desktop are shared in a folder under your profile. That means that all icons (that are not in the all user folder) will be just visible to that one user.

So what you have to do is log in with the user that doesn't have the icons, then you right-click on the start button, choose "explore". Explorer will open. Under the profiles directory, go to your login name, under that tree go to the directory "desktop". Select all icons needed and put them either in the desktop folder of the all users directory (then they will be visible to any user logging onto that machine) or paste them in the desktop folder of your collegue's profile.

Shadow.

About the updates:

they are applied to the entire machine, not to users. So no worries there.

As for my first reply: i don't know what Operating system you're using. It's profiles for NT4 and documents and settings for XP/2000

Shadow.
