I was just wondering if it is possible to create a password for a new folder.

Of course, I could just hide it. But it takes a lot of time to just go into "Views" and changing your folder options.

enable file and print sharing then on that folder you will be able to share it as full, read only and there you can put passwords on it. If you don't want someone to access the folder locally you will have to get a 3rd party software that would allow you to do this.

Dmasch (MIS),

"enable file and print sharing then on that folder you will be able to share it as full, read only and there you can put passwords on it."

That will only work if you are trying to access the folder from another computer on a network. You can't just change the sharing on that computer, to stop people from accessing that folder on that computer.

Hope this helps!

I use Paranoid (prnoid14.zip) which is free from here and it works well enough for my purposes:

You can use it to password protect files and folders. A tip if you use it: if you unprotect a folder and it won't open just close windows explorer and reopen it and then it'll open. And DON'T FORGET THE PASSWORD!

You could also try Magic Folders or Encrypted Magic Folders but they're not free.
or may have some other free one's.

Spyderix,
If you don't want someone to access the folder locally you will have to get a 3rd party software that would allow you to do this.

I didn't need that clarification but someone else might of.
