i have been trying for the past few days to simply save an animation as a gif.. i was successful in doing so ONCE by accident one day as i was leaving work and can no longer recall how i did it.. if someone could provide the location for saving a file as a gif, please let me know... it makes me feel like such a novice, so embarrassing ha.. assistance will be appreciated

Hi,

After you have made your .gif open the optimise pallete, WINDOW|OPTIMISE (or show optimise), then click on the optimise tab near the top left of the picture window (there are 4 tabs, (original, optimised, 2-up, 4-up) then set your color pallete to whatever you want it to be and your dither and whether you want transparencies, then goto FILE|SAVE OPTIMISED or FILE|SAVE OPTIMISED AS... and that's it.

Hope this helps!
