I am a beginner user to dreamweaver. What is the best way for me to create a form for my website? I developed my site using dreamweaver however am unclear as to whether or not I need a script to run any form that I create using Dreamweaver. I need some direction and guidence! thanks.

Depends on what you want the form to do. Usually forms are linked to scripts that take the data in the form, and do something with it. they either email it, store it in a DB, perform calculations on it etc...

The only thing you can do with a form that doesn't require a script is email it using the users email client.

However this poses a problem, if the user doesn't have en email client set up, no email is sent.

With that said what is it you want your form to do?

Thanks for your help. The form that I need is an application form that needs to be emailed to me. It would be nice if I could someday load the information from that form into an excel spreadsheet but right now, I just need the form to be emailed to me. Does that narrow it down a bit? Thanks.

As I explained above you'll need some kind of server-side script to email you the form.

Now you'll have to find out what server side language your web host supports, and develop in that. I'm not sure if Dreamweaver has en email behavior you can use.

Your other options include writing one from scratch, or downloading an email script and using that to have the emails sent.

But before you can do that, you'll need to determine what language can be used on your Web host.
