I have 2 Cisco 2600 routers that I want to use to create a test environment. What would be the best scenario in trying to create a WAN environment? Thanks.

Get yourself two WIC-1T cards, one for each router and then buy DTE and DCE parts of serial cables. Using these cables connect your 2 routers together, just make sure that the router connected with DCE part of cable is using "clock rate" command under its serial interface to simulate clocking function for synchronization. Then you can configure HDLC, PPP and Frame Relay. Maybe few others, just can't think about them right now. And if you have the proper IOS, you can even simulate VPN connection:)

You surely want to check out search on:

it has tons of configuration examples on almost anything
