Creating a report to look like an Excel Matrix

I need to create a report that lists each day of each month as a column heading; an employee name as a row heading; and more than one activity for each day of the month under the specfic day the activity took place. I have tried everything. I currently have a query that lists all of this information; however, no matter what, I cannot get the "appearance" to be as needed. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
