I am trying ultimately create a report to show how many responses were obtained in each catagory of my data table. This is to help us analyze which catagories need to be used next year and which ones to delete. I was thinking there was a way to do a "count" but I can't figure it out if there is. Any help will be appreciated

I don't know if this will answer your question but...
Make the source of your report a query which groups and counts your data. Use the totals button in the query design form.

A starting point:
SELECT catagory, Count(response) AS HowMany
FROM [your data table]
GROUP BY catagory;

Hope This Helps, PH.
