Creating a forum in CF...

Hey people...my boss wants to implement a forum on our site, and he wants it done in CF...
Now my question, how can I get started?? Does CF have a template for that?? What steps do I need to consider for that??
All the users have to be registred, the replies would be emailed to the user's email account (if they want that option seleceted), kinda like what tek-tips does...

PS -- i'm a newbie in CF so be patient if I ask some retareded questions...lol I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Allaire sold a product called Allaire Forums which as I understand (never use it personally) had all the features you needed in a forums application. They released it into open source a few years ago and I would recommend starting with a copy of that since they no longer charge for it. You could originally get the application from

but their site is currently down.

If you have trouble finding a copy, you might want to check out

http://www.gotocode.com/

as they have some free forums type applications as well. I really wouldn't try to code this yourself if you're starting out since this type of application has been written so many times and there are a lot of free products on the market.

Since I wasn't smart enough to follow Gunjack's advice, (BTW, good to see you again, GJ!), here's what I did. I took the discussion board from the example applications that came with Cold Fusion and modified it for my purposes.
It took some fairly extensive work, (e.g. email notification, sorting thread different ways, many cosmetic changes) so while it was an interesting educational experience, I wouldn't recommend it when there are other alternatives. So, here's something else to check out:
