Hi All. - - Sometime a go I created a dual boot. Win ME on one partition and XP pro on the other. I have just reformatted XP and now when I boot up it is showing XP Pro twice and Win ME beneath offering 30 seconds to make my mind up what to boot to otherwise it boots to XP.

Question is:

How do I remove the duplicate wording XP is showing?
Not doing me any harm but just annoying that I cannot work out how to get rid of it.

Thanks - - Mel in the UK

On your main system drive - normally c:\ there will be a file called boot.ini.

First make a copy of this file incase you do something wrong. Then open the file in notepad. Remove the line that you do not want.

You can also change the amount of time that the boot screen is showed.

I got my Bootcfg's (Command Prompt v Recovery Console) mixed up, sorry.

Removing an Operating System
At the command prompt, type:
bootcfg /delete /ID#
Where # specifies the boot entry ID that you want to be deleted from the operating systems section of the BOOT.INI file (e.g. 2 for the second Operating system that is listed.

Thank you all for your help --- Easy when You know how!! - Must have had a nose bleed and all ok now
