What do u mean by actual system property? In my knowledge in built system properties are invisible to users.
Explain bit more such that i can give you right way of answer.

Adding System property means system attribute i think..
well here it goes..
1. Login as admin
2. Go to admin.index page
3. Go to system administration
4. Go to Administer Additional Node Attributes
4. Click on Add new attribure
there you can able to add system propery or attribute of ur chioce...
Note - While doing this, whenever u ll add any livelink items, a new field called lets say..DEMOATTR will create with text field in the add page.
