Create SQL Virtual Directory

Has anyone had any luck in creating a web setup project with a custom action that lets you create a SQL Server virtual directory, just like the "Configure SQL XML Support in IIS" feature of SQL Server?

As far as I know, the only way that this can be done is by using the SQL Server utility. I would like this to be performed during the installation of my web application.
