create slideshow and autoplay without computer

I want to create a slideshow and place it in a DVD player attached to a TV in a cafeteria to run an add for school activities.

I am fine with the slideshow itself but was wondering how the slide show will play since no computer is present.

Is it possible, or am I going to have to lug a computer down to the cafeteria too?

Is there another way to create a slideshow without using PowerPoint?

You can create slidshows with almost every program that creates *.vob, *.mpg, *.avi (files) depending on what format, your dvd player at the cafe is able to read.
A program that is for video editing.

Most of this kind of programs come with Graphic Cards ar TV cards or Mainboards
