hey guys,

i want to create a mini network between a W2Kserver & W2KPro machine, and i'm not too sure where to start??

it sounds daft i know, i even work with networks [in admin] but if someone could push me in the right direction as to what hardware [hubs, cables..blah blah] and configurations i need, i'd be really grateful

thanks much someone once told me to shut up...

You need a NIC in each machine and a CAT5 crossver cable to connect them (that's all you need for 2 machines. If you want more, you'll need a hub, switch or router and straight through CAT5 cables to connect each machine to Hub/switch/router). You'll need to configure the network (depends if you're having a domain/workgroup, sharing internet connection, using static IP addresses or DHCP server).

Have a look at and

thanks wolluf,

ive had a quick look at both those sites, and they seem rather helpful, the thing that was bothering me was the ip configs, and because i want it to mimic a domain server setup with a workstation attached i wasn't sure if it was the same as just connecting the two machines with crossover cable...

i'll give it a go and see what happens,

thanks again

ps. any problems n i'll be back here quick as a flash
