Hi,

How to create a dummy extension? Will it show up when i do disp sta xxxx? Where xxxx is the extension of the dummy..

Thanks a lot..

Create a station as normal, but in the port field put either an "X" (this uses a license up if you're short) or put "virtual" in the port and this wont use a license.

You can treat this like any other starion except it wont physically exist on a desk.

Thanks,

Whats the differnce between virtual and x port? I will use this as a primary for my bridge phones.. Thanks a lot.

An x-port station will appear in the online directory if you allow it to. A virtual station will not appear in the directory.

A virtual station has no call appearences and therefore cannot be used for bridged appearences.

I suggest that you go ahead and create a virtual station, and then come back to us with any additional questions you have.
