you must ask your hosting provider if that's possible ;-) not all hostingservices provide these kind of things standard

This is really not a PHP question. But, anyway:

The page refered to above uses basic authentication with Apache 1.3.28. All you need is an .htaccess file and user/password information created with htpasswd
Go to and read:
