create a bootable cd

Help,
I cannot get my pc to boot from my original xp cd rom.
I have just fdisk my hard drive to do a clean install. I start up using the windows 98 SE cd rom no probs.
I have downloaded the exe file to create the 6 floppy disk for starting xp from floppy.
But was wondering if I could transfer the 6 floppies to a cd and make that bootable ?
It is a full genuine XP pro cd. It worked when I first brought the machince.
I have changed my bios to boot from cd as the first device also.

Assuming there is no real issue with the CD drive, just follow these instructions on another machine, but ignore the slipstream information if you want. This explains how to make a bootable CD, and likely your existing CD can be read fine for the purpose:
