My Dell 8300 running Windows XP SP2 keeps getting a CRC when transferring data from my C: drive to my WD Passport. I also have an internal F: drive that it copies to ok. I can transfer data to the Passport fine on my other desktop. Is there a fix for this? I have run scandisk on C,F, and G with no apparent problems.

You either have a driver issue or bad sectors on the drive.
Absurd as it sound you could also try changing the screen resolution to something less demanding like 800x600. But first check you are running at the native screen resolution.

Check you have the latest HDD drivers installed.

Check you have the latest version of WD passport.

To run a full chkdsk open a CMD window and type
chkdsk drive letter: /F /V /R
i.e.
To check drive C
chkdsk C: /F /V /R

This will perform a full scan of every sector, fix any errors and log the results in the event log.
Accept the request to schedule at re-boot & reboot.
