OK this is a request for someone to tell me what the heck is wrong as veritas info is garbage.

Situation: SBS2000 server 15 users approx..server crashed inaccessible boot drive. Server rebuilt fast to get customer back up. people mess around for a few days with trying to rebuild a server to restored data on to export to PST as is a retail store etc.........they cant work it out they call me...

i come in catalog tape etc try to restore exchange boxes but no go access denied. figured its a naming/security issue and hit the net..verotas guides etc...

things done . created copy of administrator called beadmin, changed all services for BE to run off this. (unsure if this is same as was original server.....does it matter?)

belegate control of exchange site to beadmin

logged into web access to activate or create beadmin mailbox (general trouble shooting faq from veritass is like 6 lines for access denied.

now my goal is to restore the old mailboxes to a NEW server and reset permission to use EXMERGE.exe to export to pst for transport to customer and exmerg into rebuild production server.

i have tried various ideas such as renaming the info stores in sysmanager to match tape name for server" sesh date (server)" (SBS-serv) replacing the new server name in stor listing using rename from rightclick menu.

redirecting to server name ( making a hosts file with oldserver name and loacl ip so if it asks dns what ip it would resolve to itself thus avoiding naming issue maybee)

all in all i have had limited success with no loss and lossy versions

The current message i am getting after i have played is this message

cannot attach to \\SBS-SERV\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes

now funnily enough the server doesnt have a sharepoint for the mailboxes and i dont know if thats actually what it wants....

basically the question is...

how do you restore an information store from one server onto another server after using Veritas backup.

I dont need a disaster recovery i just need to be able to restore mailboxes to a server if the mailbox doesnt exist and preferably in mass rather than a 1 by 1 move.
