Every time I try to start MS Word 2000 it acts like it is going to start and opens. Right before the cursor begins to blink the screen goes blank and an error pops up. Every time I try to open word, the blank page that pops up is always Document 1, then the next time I open it, it has changed to Document 2, then Document 3, so on and so on. Can someone please shed some light on this irritating problem. I am no computer genius but I know enough to get by. I have uninstalled the program and re-installed it. Updated with the different service packs, etc. All no luck. Thank You so much if you can help! :)

The error message is : Microsoft Word for windows has encountered an error and must close. We are sorry for the inconvienience. The technical data includes some things for winword.exe and the like. There is no specific error message as to what the exact problem is. P.S. Thank you for the immediate response!

Find the file Normal.dot on your computer and either rename it, or delete it. When you start Word again, it will create a new Normal.dot file.

That seemed to work. Thank You so much!!
