Just installed CR10 30-day trial and trying to connect to Oracle 9. While "Creating New Connection" there is no Oracle option at all. The Oracle Client is installed in the PC all right (the PC is fully packed for Oracle development and everything works and connects fine.) Any help appreciated.

Did you install Oracle after Crystal?

Try reinstalling. We had a Win2K machne that never would recognize Oracle as being installed, we ended up moving it to XP.

You might try using ODC or OLE DB to test connectivity.

Yes we have w2k machine with Oracle already installed. So, did your w2k machine recognized Oracle after reinstalling or not?

see if you have crdb_oracle.dll and crdb_oracle_res_en.dll located in the following folder

\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\bin

Yes, these files are exactly in that directory.

Hmmm....that's odd.

Can you go to add/remove programs and "change" your CR install. It should let you "add" options. See if Oracle DB connection was selected (is installed). If it is not, then add/install it, maybe a file was missed.

But I did find in their documentation where they state that the Oracle client should be installed FIRST

in addtion to my last post....

I found this quote from CR "The following list of data sources appear only if the database client is installed
on the computer: • IBM DB2 • Informix Online Server • Oracle Server"

So maybe it will work if you "uninstall" the Oracle DB connection from the ADD/REMOVE programs Crystal 10 option and then "reinstall it" and then apply the CR 10 SP which can be downloaded here...

Hi,
Then, to quote the immortal Rosanne Rosannadanna:
"Never Mind" [smile]

Try the uninstall/reinstall of the Oracle server Data Source.
