In regard to processing time, does make any difference whether the a data element is placed in the DETAILS section of a report, vs. a CrossTab?

Will my report run faster IF I place the data element into the DETAILS instead of having it only in my crosstab?

Thanks:

MV

It should be driven by the desired output, not by performance considerations.

In any case, if you have an actual situation where both approaches provide the same output (difficult to imagine such a case), then 1) it should be easy to compare the performance and 2) I expect the detail section approach would be slightly faster.

hth,

Visual CUT & DataLink Viewer:
view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.

Well, my desired output is the Crosstab, but I'm just trying to understand the processing time aspect of this.

I'll have to test it and see. I just thought someone might have tested this and would be able to provide some direction.

Thanks:
