I am considering upgrading to CR9 advanced. I heard that now the client doesn't need to download the viewer, is this correct ?

Currently i use CR 7 and it all seems ok, its just the viewer is a pain in the paints to download and then trouble shoot the activex settings etc.... (I only use the web based reporting, low hit volume, high internal importance)

any other comments on upgrading would be valued

thankyou

It does do HTML formatting, which means that they don't need a Viewer, but it also limits the Viewer/Display possibilities.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

There are lots of enhancements to CR 9, my favorite being that you can use REAL SQL NOW!!! But watch the licensing on CR 9, Crystal has gotten very greedy over the past 2 years.

If you're going to do web reporting with Crystal Reports 9, you'll want the Advanced Edition. Crystal Decisions just today announced new licensing which is easier to use and less expensive. There are details at
