Help! I bought a new Win2k3 server running IIS 6.0 and I installed Crystal Report 8.0 Web Component Server (allows me to view reports on our intranet). The problem is that every time I try to view a report from a browser, it reports an HTTP 404 error: File not found. Can anyone help me figure out how to work the security of IIS 6.0 so that this works?

The pages are being accessed through a virtual directory, by the way. And I should also point out that I currently have this running just peachy on a IIS 5.0 server, Win2k, so I know it -can- work. I just need help decrypting the new IIS 6.0 security.

Thanks!!!

Hello. I was wondering if you've solved this problem. I'm just running into the same issue today. I've got the system displaying the CSP files correctly, so I can get at the main ePortfolio pages. However, whenever I try to access something with the .cwr extension I get the 404 error.

Like you, this is the first time I've tried v9 on Windows 2003 Server (Standard Edition, by the way).

I've disabled the new Enhanced Security feature for the browser, and I've added the wcsinsapi.dll to the Web Service Extensions. I also believe I have all the correct application mappings, as I've mapped cri, csp, cwr, rpt, and shtx all to wcsinsapi.dll.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

MichiganMan,

Sorry, but we're talking about two completely different problems here. You're joining CR v9 with Win2k3, and I'm attempting to make CR v8 work with Win2k3.

Also, I haven't fixed this yet; I'm still hoping. :)

Incidentally, TurkBear, your link is kinda useless to someone like me; I don't know ANYthing about IIS 6.0, let alone where to start troubleshooting getting an application to work. Furthermore, I don't really even know the application I'm trying to make work, so I'm doubly screwed! :)

As for now, MichiganMan, I'm planning on dedicating a Win2k server with IIS 5.0 to handle all such report viewing, until I figure something else out.

lwinstead,

Thanks for the quick reply. And actually, I simply made a typo. I am, in fact, trying to get v8 (that's eight) onto Win 2003 Server. My fault for not proofing the post better.

I'll keep searching, and if I find anything out I'll get back here and let you know what I've found.

Thanks again.
