hi, i have windows xp OS. i am getting trouble with this.
i got my computer shutdown suddenly. when i restarted i got a message

The CPU was previously shutdown due to a thermal event(overheating).

service the unit right away to resolve this.

press <F4> to resume.

press <F2> to run set up.

hit <F12> if you want to boot from the network

what is the problem ? what i should do ?
i pressed F4 to resume. but this thing is happening quite frequently . so, whats the solution ?

This is a BIOS message.

Treat it VERY seriously.
Take the machine to the shop after first opening the case and trying with compressed air to clean all vents, fans and other sources of dust, particularly on the CPU itself.

Note: it could well be that the CPU cooler fan has given up the ghost, or its power lead inadvertantly removed.

If in doubt, take it to the shop. This could become a very expensive thing to fix if not done immediately.

thanks for advice.

its power lead inadvertantly removed
no,there is no problem with the fan. i see fan is working .

so, proper clean up is needed .

thanks for the advice.

I am getting the same error mesage, did you ever get it resolved ?

Thanks.
