I had problems with my computer crashing all of a sudden and eventually found that the processor was over-heating. I improved the air-flow etc, installed software cooling programs, enabled the temperature option in my BIOS and it seems alright now...

but for one thing...

Every now and again (after the computer has booted) the tower gives out a silent beeping sound for a few seconds and then it goes quiet again. Is this something to do with the BIOS temperature option which I have enabled? Or is my processor nearly on its death bed?

Many thanks,
Marcus

some BIOS have option for alarm if the cpu gets to hot or if the fan slows down to far it might be one of these go off So long and thanks for all the fish.

Your Bios may have a warning feature that tells you that its running hot, If you have installed a CPU Fan but it's not the three wire type fan (sends the fan RPM messgae to your Bios) it will alert you to the fact that it can't read the RPM's. you may want to consider also installing a Case fan. Also go on line and download the most latest versions of your Bios software.

Silent beeping sounds are very difficult to diagnose. Sorry, just practicing.
Can also be a fan starting to bind up. Ed Fair
