I have a system and the CO is not sending a CPC -co disconnect signal. It is a 5E switch that comes to my customer through a PG cable. I talked to the guy at the CO and he has NO IDEA what I am calling about. Every Voice mail messasge ends woth BEEP BEEP BEEP if you woulld like to make a call......

Does anyone know specifically what to tell this CO guy what needs to be done to resolve this. he thinks it's the voice mail but i KNOW i am not recieving the open from the CO.

I believe want you want is called "forward disconnect", and it's a monentary reversal of batt and grd as a signal for disconnect, the CO can breakout the channels and watch the a&b signal bits to see if it's getting to the originating PG in the CO, if so the trouble is most likely in the PG system!
Hope this helps,
Gene

You can also try lowering the Hold Disconnect Timer under #203. Default is 450ms, try dropping it to 250 to see if that cures your ills. If not, set it back and hound the carrier for a reliable disconnect signal.

Hi ttech,
I tried playing with the timers with no luck. Try the term "positive disconnect", maybey they will understand that term. If you get on the line with a tester, they can implement it and you will see the Partner drop the line in around 1/2 sec. after he hangs up. Gene1 is right, it is a momentary polarity reversal.

Most CO's nowadays do an open loop disconnect. If you connect a toner on the polarity setting on the line paralell to in coming into the switch you will see the green polarity light go out for about a half of a second after the othe party has hung up, showing the open loop.

It works that way at my house.

If it were the old reversal/wink the light would change to red for a second.

Well anyway I am not getting either. I even set the #203 setting to 50ms, witch sould almost guarentee a disconnect on even the slightest singal.

I'm gonna give some old Bell guys My dad worked with a call and see what they say.

Thanks for the input

Hi ttech,
What you want is sometimes an extra charge to install the feature. If you get a tester on line with you, you can prove it's needed & possibly have it added at no charge. It is possible that the switch your LEC is using is not capable. DMS-100/250 are. I wish you the best there.

The major problem is I know what I need but the guy at the CO Has NO idea what the heck I am talking about. I'm hoping in that talking to some bell guys my dad worked with, I may find out what they might call it.

He told me to tell the people in the office to hang up the phone when they are done talking.

When I went through this with Pacific Bell, which has now become SBC, they termed it "COD - Cutoff On Disconnect" (and they pronounced it like the fish, not cash-on-delivery). My problem was a customer switched from copper to pair-gain without being told, called a backdoor number into the central office, and got a hold of a tech that found that they needed _older_ release line cards in the pair gain to pass the COD to the customer.

Thanks TTT i;ll try asking for that. It seems like a small CO in a semi-rural area
