CP100 Networking Problem

trying to network a CP100. Changed IP on laptop to 192.168.110.11, connected via crossover cable, type in 192.168.110.10 and cannot connect. tried from laptop and desktop. Will not ping (request timed out).

Called tech support and they said I am doing averything correctly. Customer hasn't touched the unit since install. Just wondering if any other ideas. My laptop has no serial connection for HyperTerminal connection. I installed as brand new unit so I do not beleive the IP was ever changed.

Again, any other ideas I could look into would be helpful.

check your cable- are you getting the NIC light in the CP and on your laptop. I have heard of people having this problem, and for whatever reason it was resolved by using a hub/switch and regular cables.
 
Cable is tested and good. lights on CP and laptop are on. Tried setting to 192.168.110.20 as suggested by another tech (thanks HILINE for quick call after post!) Still no good. I guess I'll have to dust off old laptop for return visit. System is working fine otherwise, just wanted to network for ease of customer administration for small law office.

Be sure you have java enabled on laptop under internet properties/ advanced / check java enabled
 
I'm with bkike. I have had the same problem with the last 2 CP100's I have started up. Put a switch in the middle and no problem. I have not had the time to troubleshoot.

It has worked OK previously with a crossover cable.

That is really strange. You are saying that you have had same problem, but using a switch between with straight patch cords have worked? I'll have to try it. I dread using my old laptop with serial port. Incidentally, i just tried my crossover on a direct dsl install and got to internet perfectly, so i know it's not the cable or my machine. Everyone have a happy easter!
