Ok, has anybody figured out a clever way to use coverage at an analogue extension on an R3 system? Ie. digital phone rings, make an analogue port ring at the same time.

I know internal twinning is supported on R4.0.7 but this is a 403 so that's out of the question. I'm really NOT keen on the idea of downgrading to 2.1 either. Bah!

Any ideas would be appreciated

On 3.2, set locale to the UK. Setup internal twinning as desired. Save. Reboot. Change locale back to US. Save. Reboot.
Internal twinning information will stay.

to be clear. this "isn't supported" by avaya for this release.

also, once you change back to the US locale, the phones stay twinned but you lose the tab for twinning in the user setup. So to change the twinning you have to go through this setup each time.

Oh I had no doubt this would not be a supported solution... if there were a supported solution then I would use it :)

Slick trick - the only real problem with it is that ANY change to the user done through manager appears to wipe out the internal twinning, requiring you to go through the procedure again. It would be sweet if we only had to do that to change the twinning setup. Still, beggers can't be choosers...

On the other hand, maybe I can convince my customer that the odd ringback signal and the quaint accent in their mailbox aren't so bad if it means the system will work the way they wanted it to... hmmm. Has anyone had any serious problems keeping a production system set to UK when installed in the US?

Thanks,

ah, yes i suppose that changes to the user once put back to US would remove the internal twinning. I tested it in lab up to the point i got it working and back on US locale but never messed with it beyond that.

Hopefully you don't really have to mess with the users much.

If it's a major problem and they need the functionality then it's time to upgrade to new hardware and 4.0
