I have the following problem:
I have a report that contains a memo field that must be set to can grow(no maximum). I also need to be able to count the number of lines that have printed. Not detail records that have passed through but the number of lines that have been consumed in the section.
Example: if three records each have a memo field that has grown to consume 5 lines, I will have counted three detail records but will have printed 15 lines of text on the report. All of the help I've seen refers to counting the records.
Any ideas out there?

Hi,

I'm not sure whether this is feasible, but if you determine the number of charatcers per line n your out put field then you can always do this with a formula.

Ie. "length of memo field" / "number of chars per line"

Then produce a sum of the formula

I'm not aware of any method for determining how many actual lines have been printed per page. Other report tool like Cobol do have this facility. I would a great help if crystal could do something like this as throwing to a new page could then be based on actual number of lines left on the page !!

Hth,
Geoff
