Could you please sugest a way I could do the following:

I have the following formula

=MarketsPhased!C4*AVERAGE
($C$2/MarketsPhased!$C$2,$C$3/MarketsPhased!$C$3)

basically trying to predict the performance for this month based on an average of previous two months performance.
I will be repeating this for each month using data as it arrives each month. At present I am changing the formular for example, when i get March's data i will change the cell C4 to look at March data then the cell below (April to look at Jan, Feb, March and average their performance against target and times that by April Target.
I sent a thread in earlier to create a value in my sheet to which tells me the most recent months data i have.

Do you have any advice for me to do this in a less complicated way?

Karron,

I apologise if this is not very clear.

I believe I understand your predicament, but bear with me because I may not.

I don't know how your sheet is set up, but if you have a pattern that repeats itself, you may be able to just highlight a couple that you have done before and drag the series formula into the other cells as well. It should adjust itself to the pattern you previously set.

You would highlight the cells, click the 'cross' in the lower right corner of the selected cells, and drag accross or down the page as needed. If you do this, you should make sure that the average in at least one or two new cell(s) is accurate before trusting that Excel picked up the correct pattern. Hope that helps.

no,I don't think you understand,
i need the cell to work out whether or not that months data is in, if it is enter the data in the cell, if it is not take all the months from before it and average actual performance against the target and return a proposed figure.

Can you give an example of how your data is laid out, including a couple of headings perhaps. It's kind of hard to follow what your formula is referring to and what would be in those cells.

Regards
Ken...............
