Could not load Java Virtual Machine. Conflict with banking software

I'm currently updating a dept to 2000 Pro that uses Fifth Third Direct banking software.

Situation:
-It installs without error
-When you log on for the first time it wants to update
*If Java Console is not enabled, it comes up with an iKernel.exe error at the very end of the update installation
*If Java Console is enabled (and system has rebooted) this error appears:

Error: Could not load Java Virtual Machine.
Please verify that the application has been installed correctly.

I have also tried enabling Java Logging before fresh install to no avail.

Note: JIT compiler has been checked the entire time.

VM problem? 5/3 Direct problem? Possibly a VM update conflict? Any ideas?

Two thoughts:

. There are JIT problems with Intel P4s. Try it unchecked; but this should be solved by an upgrade of MJVM:
. You may need an update. If this is the Microsoft JVM, you need to use the Windows Update site, and the left panel choice of Windows catalogue. Search for "JVM" under your version of Windows. Apply the upgrade it finds.
. Install the Sun Version as well.

A good discussion with links to what you need:
I note I had earlier problems with Intel P4 and java, and was able to use everything with JIT disabled as a regular setting, but the upgrades should sort the issue. Just a note that you might not need JIT enabled.

I tried disabling JIT- same error. JVM & MSVM are completely updated including the iKernel.exe update (for the Java version) - still nothing. I tried loading on a different machine as well, and I'm getting the same errors. ARRGGGHHHH! I couldn't get to the website you posted because they've maxed out their bandwidth.

Both machines are:
New Compaq Evo D310V Intel Celerons with no frills running Windows 2000.

Check your Java and ActiveX security settings under Internet Options, Security, for both the Inter and Intra net zones.

There shouldn't be conflict according to the system settings.

What if you tell it not to update?

Consider their specifications: (Quoting them)

You can access MVision using a PC satisfying the following requirements:

Any IBM-compatible P133 or higher
Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 running in 256 color mode
Any Internet browser can be used

Sufficient hard drive space for local storage of reports (actual space required varies with merchant activity and number of locations)
Additional requirements for scanning (optional):

Platform for Ongoing Development

By creating a Java-based application from the ground up, Fifth Third is able to use direct customer input to develop ongoing refinements to the MVision system. What’s more, enhancements to MVision are made universally, without the need to distribute diskettes or maintain multiple software versions. All you do is log on to receive the most powerful features available."
