Troubleshooting internet connectivity issue and my ipconfig /flushdns returned the following error: "Could not flush the DNS Resolver Cache: Function failed during execution."
At ipconfig /all I realized my dns IP pointed to my dlink router, all ping & tracert's errored as well. I then reset the router & test, no internet connectivity. I then entered the router interface and gain the dns servers IP's and assigned statically within my tcp/ip properties and all is well.
I'm merely looking for pointers regarding the error message and possible why's to the necessity of having to redirect dns servers statically. So now after some Googlesearch if find with the net start dnscache I was able to restart service I was unaware was not running and successfully flushdns with no errors. Now back to auto dns config to test further. All works well with dns back to auto and resolving from router 192.168 addr.
Any why insight?
