Hi,

Now I don't know if this is hardware or software related. Over the past two days one of my user's laptops stops being able to access network shares and printers. He can still however access the internet. After awhile I tried repairing the TCP/IP stack, and after a restart, everything was back to normal. The only problem is it keeps happening and I have to keep repairing the TCP/IP stack.

Does anyone know of a more 'long term' answer?

Thanks in advance!

Steven

If nothing else was very obvious I'd probably just reinstall the latest Windows Service Pack, but I'm sure there's probably a much smaller and cleaner solution if you look hard enough.

BTW, what happened to the machine from the time it was working fine to the time it started having this problem? Maybe a program was installed that put a crappy DLL on the system?

Follow this faq by bcastner. use winsock fix and other things on his page and follow what he says.

Also ensure it is spyware/virus free. As if its not you can fix the connection all day long and they will unfix for you as fast as you can restart lol.

Run a scan here to see what comes up.
